YUJILEDS® releases IP65 IP67 high CRI LED flexible strip
LED soft ribbon is getting popular due to its flexibility, and YUJILEDS® also offers flexible ribbon based on its remarkable color reproduction quality. With the increasement of different applications, special environments are required for using the LED ribbons, then water-tightness and dust-tightness are necessary sometimes.
It is easy to find IP rating LED ribbons on the market, however as our research, most products are for common lighting applications, which means people do not pay attention on the lighting quality too much. After trying the experiments on high CRI + IP LED strips, we find that the spectrum shifts seriously after the protection coating, while this is unacceptable for our customers who are always strict at the color accuracy.

After the investigation we realize that the organic material of the protection coating is sensitive to the light, and this results in the phenomenon of spectrum shift. One method comes up to us that assuming 3200K CCT would shift to 4000K, then how about to use the 3200K ribbon as 4000K directly after the coating? But this is rejected immediately since we understand the CCT is only a calculated number from the spectrum power distribution and it does not equal to absolutely accurate color, what we are always doing is to simulate the spectrum as close to blackbody radiant as possible, furthermore the affect from the coating presents unstable shift tendency, it is can be found from the CIE 1931 coordinate and DUV data from Figure 1 and 2. In this case we start our own development and now it is excited to announce the YUJILEDS® IP65/67 flexible strip is released formally!
What we have done is finding out the spectrum shift theory on the coating material, then process the technical control to make the shift stable and consistent; on the LED part, a special spectrum is customized to match the shift, then the eventual result is no difference comparing to our general high CRI LED strip, although the LED inside the coating is no longer the original high CRI spectrum. Figure 3 shows the typical test data of YUJILEDS® IP65 / IP67 high CRI flexible strip, and it comes with YUJILEDS® 3rd generation chromaticity bin which means we will process even better consistency control on this strip (more information about 3rd generation bin please refer to “Less is more - YUJILEDS® releases its 3rd generation of chromaticity bin”).
