In the world of color and light, science and art have always been intertwined. This journey began with an unexpected encounter: the paintings of Grandma Geng Yukun.

Echoes of Time in Ink

Geng Yukun is a member of the China Artists Association and a painter at the Beijing Fine Art Academy. Her husband, Zhao Yixiong, is also an artist. 

Together, they embarked on over 20 expeditions along the Silk Road - sketching landscapes from Tokyo and Nara in the east to Istanbul, Turkey in the west. Across 8 countries and 238 cities, they traveled 250,000 kilometers.

By journey’s end, they were septuagenarians, yet their mission continued: sharing the art and culture of the Silk Road. 

Today, at 91 years old, Grandma Geng still paints, makes videos, and tells stories of the Silk Road, passing down its artistic spirit.

Yet preserving and displaying fragile originals makes it hard for many to experience their beauty. That’s why YUJI recreates her works with museum-grade precision – capturing every detail from the texture of rice paper to ink gradients, from brushstroke intensity to the patina of time. These reproductions become timeless reflections of the originals, freeing art from the constraints of time and space.
